Car line is open from 7:30 a.m. - 7:55 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. - 3:35 p.m. Families with students in multiple car lines may drop older students off at the younger student’s car line. (Elementary drop off is between 7:45 - 8:00 a.m., and pick up is from 3:20 - 3:45 p.m.).
Dismissal details are communicated through PikMyKid. Access this parent guide to the app HERE.
After school hours - All intermediate students must be enrolled in GCCS after-care supervision if remaining on campus after dismissal. Additionally, any K-6 student attending extracurricular events after school hours must be accompanied by an adult. HERE is before and after school care registration information.
Attendance - Intermediate attendance is taken by period. Please keep this in mind when scheduling recurring appointments and attempt to vary days and times so students do not accumulate excessive absences in an individual class.
Student expectations - Our handbook student conduct guidelines of love, responsibility, humility and commitment are key expectations of intermediate students.
Communication - The intermediate grades do not use Friday Folders, instead, the iTeam communicates with families collectively through a weekly newsletter, a Google website. Parents are asked to review this communication weekly for general announcements and specific classroom happenings.
1:1 Technology - All intermediate students will be issued a Chromebook at the beginning of the year. Students use these devices in school and take them home daily to be charged for the following school day. Student Google IDs appear as Gmail addresses, however this feature is not enabled until middle school. Filters to ensure appropriate use and content apply to student devices both on and off campus. Students are trained in the use of Google Classroom as a Learning Management System, and parents are given access to tutorials as well.
iChap - Intermediate chapel is held weekly. Families are encouraged to review the iChap section of the iNews weekly for a summary of each week's Foundations Worldview lesson and follow-up questions to discuss at home.
Athletic events - Intermediate students are welcome to attend after school home athletic events only when accompanied by a parent. Student and adult cash ticket prices are posted at the gates, or families may purchase season passes through the athletic department. Gates open one hour prior to game time for outdoor contests, and a half hour prior to game time for indoor games.
Missing Work - If your child is missing an assignment, encourage them to check the no-name folders in the classrooms and to approach the teacher to ask.
