This week, we learned about objects in space besides the planets, such as the moon, the stars, and the asteroid and Kuiper belts. We also took a quiz on the facts we learned about the planets.
NEXT WEEK: We will have our end of unit Earth and Space Science Test on Tuesday, December 16. This will cover what we have learned about the planets, as well as the stars and the moon. Students also have a Planet for Sale project due on Thursday, December 18. For this project, students will act as a realtor trying to sell one of the planets in the solar system (besides Earth). The full rubric is on Google Classroom.
Finally, I will be checking students' science notebooks on Wednesday, December 17 to make sure they have everything written down that they need for this unit. A running list of what they need is on Google Classroom, called "Science Notebook: Earth and Space Science."
This week, we continued our unit on the Diversity of Life by discussing invertebrates such as sponges, coelenterates (jellyfish and anemones), worms, mollusks, echinoderms, and arthropods.
NEXT WEEK: We will learn about bacteria, fungi, and protists as the last three kingdoms of living things. We will also have an end of unit test on invertebrates, plants, bacteria, fungi, and protists on Wednesday, December 17. However, students will have the option to take it the day before, when we will review for the test, instead of attending the review session.
Finally, students will have an extra credit option to create an instruction manual for how to take care of an invertebrate of their choice as a pet. Full requirements for this assignment will be posted on Google Classroom, and it will be due Thursday, December 18.
